A strain gauge and a torque value calculating means detect a torque value that acts on a sun gear on the basis of reaction force, an input-equivalent value calculating means calculates an input torque-equivalent value based on the detected torque value, a torque reduction commanding means outputs a command to change torque to an engine, and a torque change judging means judges on the basis of the calculated input-torque-equivalent value whether the torque of the engine is appropriately changed in accordance with the command. Thus, it can be precisely judged based on the torque value measured by using the sun gear peculiar to an automatic shift mechanism whether or not the torque of the engine is changed appropriately as desired.
