Disclosed is a fire escape apparatus for a building which can be used for aiding individuals in escaping quickly from a fire by moving a boarding unit to the place of the fire upon occurrence of a fire in a high-rise building. The fire escape apparatus of the present invention is arranged in the horizontal direction of an outer wall of a building, and includes a main transfer unit, a horizontal transfer unit, a boarding unit, a vertical transfer unit and a rotating unit. The main transfer unit has a center guide rail disposed in the horizontal direction. The horizontal transfer unit is coupled to one end of the main transfer unit such that the horizontal transfer unit is rotatable, or coupled to both ends of the main transfer unit such that the horizontal transfer unit is rotatable, and has a side guide rail which contacts the center guide rail in parallel to the center guide rail. The boarding unit is coupled to the center guide rail such that the boarding unit is movable along the side guide rail, and has an inside provided with an evacuee-accommodating space. The vertical transfer unit is connected to the boarding unit, and moves the boarding unit in the vertical direction of the building. The rotating unit rotates the horizontal transfer unit and allows the horizontal transfer unit to be folded when the boarding unit is located at the center guide rail.
