<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera for easily detecting an occurrence of abnormality in an image pickup system. <P>SOLUTION: An image pickup device 18 includes an image pickup surface where a plurality of pixels are disposed and repeatedly outputs a raw image signal representing a field generated on the image pickup surface. The raw image signal output is converted into raw image data to be a digital signal by a pre-processing circuit 26. A CPU 28 extracts pixel data generated by a white point missing pixel among the plurality of pixels from the raw image data repeatedly output by the pre-processing circuit 26. The CPU 28 issues a warning when a level of pixel data extracted continues to be below a threshold TH for a fixed period.
