<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein recording of a broadcast content finishes in the middle of recording resulting from lack of the storage capacity, when the broadcast content is recorded on an external recording medium such as an SD card. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The broadcast recording/reproducing apparatus includes a programming time detection portion for computing a required storage capacity from a necessary airtime of a broadcast content to be recorded on an external storage medium, a capacity comparison portion, and a CM detection portion for detecting a commercial message part in the broadcast content, and a CM part deletion portion for deleting the commercial message part from the broadcast content. The capacity comparison portion compares the storage capacity required for storage of the broadcast content with an idle storage capacity of the external storage medium detected by a capacity detection portion. When the idle storage capacity is smaller than the storage capacity required for the storage of the broadcast content, the CM detection portion detects the commercial message part in the broadcast content. Then, the CM part deletion portion deletes the commercial message part detected by the CM detection portion from the broadcast content recorded on RAM temporarily to memorize on the external storage medium.
