PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display element that is driven with a simple member construction and at a low voltage and has high display contrast and white display reflectance. SOLUTION: In the display element having an electrolyte containing a compound represented by general formula (A) or general formula (B) and a white scattering material between facing electrodes, at least one of the facing electrodes is formed by solidifying a polymer compound including a bis(terpyridine) derivative, a metal ion and a counter anion.
