PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ashless coal of very low ash content by removing by filtration even ash of especially small grain diameter contained in a liquid component containing an extracted coal component. SOLUTION: The method for producing an ashless coal comprises a slurry-heating process (S1) to treat by heat a slurry prepared by mixing coal and an aromatic solvent, a separation process (S2) to separate the thermally treated slurry in the slurry-heating process (S1) into a liquid component and a solid component, the first filtration process (S3) to filtrate the liquid component separated in the separation process (S2), the second filtration process (S4) to filtrate further the filtrate filtered in the first filtration process (S3), and an ashless coal-obtaining process (S5) to obtain an ashless coal by removing the aromatic solvent from the filtrate filtered in the second filtration process (S4), wherein, a temperature of a filtrate filtered in the second filtration process (S4) is lower than the temperature of the liquid component filtered in the first filtration process (S3).
