<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which has a sufficient strength of a glass substrate and gets a limited occurrence of a panel breakage. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The plasma display panel is a PDP in which a plural pairs of electrodes and a dielectric layer on a substrate are provided, and a residual stress on a surface on a side of the substrate where the dielectric layer is not provided is within a range of 0.8-2.4 MPa. Furthermore, it is also acceptable that a substrate thickness is 2.8 mm±0.5 mm and the residual stress on a surface on a side of the substrate where the dielectric layer is not provided is within a range of 1.3-2.4 MPa.
