<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user easily recognize relevance among a plurality of recording media in which data are dividedly recorded, when data of larger capacity than capacity of a recording medium for backup is divided into a plurality of partial data and backed up in a plurality of recording media. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus is provided with: a dividing means generating a plurality of partial data having order relation by dividing the data in order to dividedly record data in a plurality of recording media; and a representative image generating means generating a representative image for each recording medium in which the partial data are recorded, wherein the representative image given to one recording medium is made to include an image generated using at least any one of the front part data or the rear part data of the partial data together with the partial data recorded in the one recording medium.
