A honeycomb structure comprising a honeycomb unit having multiple through-holes laid parallelly in the longitudinal direction thereof with a partition wall interposed therebetween, wherein the honeycomb unit contains an SOx storage agent, inorganic particles and an inorganic binder, satisfying the formula Y=-26X+40,000 (02/L) exhibited when SOx is stored in an amount of X (g).
