The device comprises a support relief (1), in which a doctor blade unit (4) is incorporated and transportable to a doctor blade beam, a crane or a carriage for transporting the support relief to the blade beam or the intermediate bearing, and a lever pivotably mounted at the blade beam around a rotating axis. The doctor blade unit has a doctor blade as a doctor blade element or a doctor blade bar (3a) incorporated into a doctor blade bed (3). The support relief extends its transport direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the doctor beam i.e. in a machine transverse direction. The device comprises a support relief (1), in which a doctor blade unit (4) is incorporated and transportable to a doctor blade beam, a crane or a carriage for transporting the support relief to the blade beam or the intermediate bearing, and a lever pivotably mounted at the blade beam around a rotating axis. The doctor blade unit has a doctor blade as a doctor blade element or a doctor blade bar (3a) incorporated into a doctor blade bed (3). The support relief extends its transport direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the doctor beam i.e. in a machine transverse direction. The blade beam is an intermediate bearing assigned to the blade beam. The support relief has a recess (2) for receiving the blade unit. The blade unit with the support relief is bringable to the blade beam and/or the intermediate bearing. The blade unit exits the support relief during bringing into the machine and/or back to the blade beam and/or the intermediate bearing. A thorn or contact surfaces for the support relief are provided at the blade beam and/or at the assigned intermediate bearing. The blade beam has consoles for receiving several blade units with or without support relief. The consoles are arranged next to each other and/or one above the other on one side of the blade beam lying against the blade unit in its operating position. The lever has a device for receiving the blade unit at its one end, is pivotable, so that the blade unit is pivotable between a receiving position and an operation position, and is arranged in a vertical plane to the longitudinal axis of the blade beam. The blade units are supplyable as a supply from the intermediate bearing to the blade beam. The blade unit is directly introducible in the operating position. An independent claim is included for a method for providing a doctor blade unit for a blade beam.
