PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a bead state in both end parts in the bead width direction to prevent the bead from running out to be damaged from both ends parts in the bead width direction even when the coating is carried out at high speed or thin film coating is made. SOLUTION: In the extrusion coating apparatus where a coating liquid discharged to a clearance C between a web 22 wound around a backup roller 20 and continuously travelling and the head tip end of an extrusion type coating head 12 for discharging the coating liquid from a slit 16 is cross-linked to form the bead and is applied to the web 22 via the bead and a spacer 24 for regulating the coating width is inserted in both end parts of the slit 16 in the width direction, at least the tip end part 24A of the spacer 24 is formed of a flexible member and the web is coated in a state that the tip end part is projected from the slit tip end and is made to abut on the web surface.
