PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image defect in multi-color in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A control part 2 receives a signal showing the class of an image of a raster image from a multi-image discriminating part 42, and determines whether or not the signal is a line image signal. When the signal is a half-tone image signal, the control part 2 reads a parameter P1 for a half-tone image from a storage part 3, and forms a half-tone image based on a pattern generated by a pattern generating part 113. On the other hand, when the signal is a line image signal, the control part 2 determines whether or not the image is multi-color. In this case, when the image is determined to be not multi-color, the control part 2 reads a parameter P2 for a single color line image from the storage part 3 and forms an image.
