摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paramagnetic garnet crystal which is easily produced in high yield by a rotation pulling method, contains terbium and has excellent optical properties and crystallinity, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The paramagnetic garnet crystal is represented by compositional formula: Tb<SB>3</SB>(Ga<SB>2-x</SB>M<SB>x</SB>)(Ga<SB>3-y</SB>N<SB>y</SB>)O<SB>12</SB>, wherein, M is at least one of Mg<SP>2+</SP>and Zn<SP>2+</SP>; N is at least one of Ge<SP>4+</SP>, Ti<SP>4+</SP>and Si<SP>4+</SP>; and formula weights x and y satisfy following relation: 0<x≤y<2.
