<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with a backlight reducing the temperature distribution of a fluorescent tube and favorably illuminating a liquid crystal panel regardless of its thin structure. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device has the liquid crystal panel and the backlight for illuminating the panel, wherein when the side of the liquid crystal panel on which the backlight is placed is a rear side and the side which faces the backlight is a front side, the backlight has a housing having a side with an opening, a number of fluorescent lamps in long tube form which are placed inside the housing and a light source drive circuit with a coil which drives the number of fluorescent lamps, where the number of fluorescent lamps are placed at the bottom of a lower frame which forms the housing, the bottom of the lower frame has such a form that a recess towards the front side is provided at a predetermined location, the light source drive circuit is placed on the rear side of the lower frame and in a region in the recess towards the front side at the bottom of the lower frame, and a metal plate is provided between the rear side of the lower frame and the coil mounted in the light source drive circuit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
