摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phase difference film having reduced orientation unevenness with respect to environmental changes, and to provide a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display which use the phase difference film. <P>SOLUTION: The phase difference film has a biaxial film, and a vertical rod-like liquid crystal layer, the film contains at least one kind selected from among a group, comprising compounds having 200&times;10<SP>-25</SP>-2,000&times;10<SP>-25</SP>cm<SP>3</SP>of &Delta;&alpha;1, and 2-10 nm of molecular interterminal distance, and compounds having 150&times;10<SP>-25</SP>-1,500&times;10<SP>-25</SP>cm<SP>3</SP>of &Delta;&alpha;2, and 1.5-10 nm of molecular interterminal distance, and an amount of a compound expressed by mathematical expression (1) or (2) contained in the first portion is smaller than that contained in the third portion, when the biaxial film is trisected along the film thickness direction to form a first portion, a second portion and a third portion from the optical anisotropic layer side, where mathematical expression (1) is expressed by &Delta;&alpha;1=&alpha;x-(&alpha;y+&alpha;z)/2 and mathematical expression (2) is expressed by &Delta;&alpha;2=(&alpha;x+&alpha;y)/2-&alpha;z. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
