PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abradable seal member having a high heat resistance and corrosion resistance, and having an easily grinding property, and also to provide a simple manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The use of porous ceramic oxides with a porosity of 20 to 70% by volume as an abradable seal member greatly enhances a heat resistance and an oxidation resistance of the bradable seal member, enables it to be used under high temperatures of 1,000°C or over, as well as enables it to secure its easily grinding property. Then, the abradable seal member is produced in a simple manner by forming a sealing layer using a mixture of ceramic oxide powder and carbon powder with a volume corresponding to a predetermined porosity, and then subjecting the layer to heat treatment at 600°C or over in the air or oxygen atmosphere, to remove the carbon powder by oxidation.
