<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file generating apparatus, file generating method and file generating program for generating an image file with a suitable keyword added thereto from scan data read by an image reading device such as a scanner. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A multifunction peripheral 1 includes a printer engine 10, a scanner 20, a control panel 30, and a controller 40 including a hard disk 44 or the like storing therein a registration keyword table RT on which a plurality of keywords are registered beforehand. The controller 40 performs character recognition processing upon scan data read by the scanner 20 and refers to the registration keyword table RT to extract keywords meeting a registered keyword from a recognition result of character recognition and displays them on a screen as candidates of the keyword.
