PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method for a side ditch, which enables a permeable pavement to be easily installed on the side ditch, while shortening a construction period by utilizing an existing side ditch approximately as-is, and which enables a water collecting function of the side ditch to be maintained and secured over a long period of time. SOLUTION: A cover slab 3 is removed from a side ditch body 2 of the existing side ditch 1; a plurality of permeable cover slabs 7 are newly installed on the cover holder 6 of the side ditch body 2; a permeable sheet 8 is arranged from a pavement surface layer 32 adjacent to the existing side ditch 1 or a top surface of a base course 31 after the removal of the pavement surface layer 32 to the whole top surface of each of the permeable cover slabs 7; cushion sand 9 is laid throughout the top surface of the permeable sheet 8; and a plurality of permeable pavement blocks 10 are laid throughout the top surface of the laid cushion sand 9.
