PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating a residual life of an oil-filled electric apparatus, capable of precisely estimating a remaining life of an oil-filled electric apparatus in the consideration of a change in a future operating environment. SOLUTION: The method for estimating a remaining life of an oil-filled electric apparatus, includes the steps of (S2) producing a model for estimating an average degree of the polymerization of an insulating paper to estimate the average degree of the polymerization of an insulating paper from the content of the component of an insulating paper degradation index and an operating environment, (S3) producing for estimating a model for estimating a degradation index of an insulating paper to estimate an ingredient amount of a degradation index from the operating environment, (S4) (S5) estimating the present average degree of polymerization, (S7) estimating the present ingredient amount of a degradation index and determining its error as a correction value, (S8) estimating the ingredient amount of degradation index in the operating environment supposed in the future using the correction value, (S9) estimating the average degree of polymerization supposed in the future using the estimated ingredient amount of a degradation index, and (S10) determining a life reduction rate from the estimated average degree of polymerization and estimating a remaining life using this life reduction rate and the present average estimated degree of polymerization.
