CARBON DIOXIDE FIXATION APPARATUS AND METHOD

A carbon dioxide fixation apparatus and method that would realize highly efficient, low-cost reduction reaction of carbon dioxide by a photocatalyst and realize formation of a carbon dioxide reduction product by the reduction reaction to thereby attain fixation of carbon dioxide. Accordingly, the apparatus comprises a microreactor having a microflow channel through which a gaseous raw material and a liquid raw material flow as reactants; gaseous raw material feeding means for feeding the gaseous raw material into the microflow channel; liquid raw material feeding means for feeding the liquid raw material into the microflow channel; and a photocatalyst layer provided on the internal surface of the microflow channel. The gaseous raw material is carbon dioxide. The liquid raw material is a raw material capable of reacting with carbon dioxide to thereby form an organic compound. The gaseous raw material feeding means and liquid raw material feeding means are constructed so as to induce a pipe flow wherein the liquid raw material flows along the internal surface of the microflow channel while carbon dioxide flows through the central zone thereof.
