PURPOSE: A control apparatus for an automatic transmission is provided to prevent the rapid shift from being generated even though the signal for determining the traveling state is broken down. CONSTITUTION: A control apparatus for an automatic transmission comprises a car speed detection unit detecting the real automobile velocity which is the running speed of vehicle; an operation unit computing the deviation of the car speed and the estimation car speed; a prediction car speed operation unit assuming the prediction car speed which is the car speed of the designated time future; a car speed estimated unit performing the delay operation based on the prediction car speed; a target shift ratio operation unit computing the target shift ratio based on the traveling state including the prediction car speed; a transmission control unit controlling the auto transmission based on the target shift ratio.
