<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, capable of efficiently accessing image information and improving processing speed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When an SIMD (single instruction-stream, single data-stream)microprocessor 2 stores image information of a 2×2 rectangular area stored in an external memory 3, a pixel located at the left upper part of the rectangular area is taken as a base, and an address in the external memory 3 of the base pixel is computed by a processor part 4, and the head of the second line is determined by adding the pixel number in a main scanning direction to the address of the base pixel in a memory controller 8, and each line is read by burst access.
