<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of suppressing reduction of ventilation air conditioning air quantity, even when an auxiliary heater is not used. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This air conditioner heats air having passed through an evaporator 2 by a hot water heater 4 after adjusting flow rate of the air by an air mixing door 3. The auxiliary heater 5 for further heating the air heated by the hot water heater 4 as necessary is arranged to be slidable between a position opposed to the hot water heater 4 and a position which is not opposed to the hot water heater 4 on a downstream side of the hot water heater 4. A driving mechanism part is constituted of a gear 16 for driving, an air mixing door guide 7 engaged with the gear 16 to move the air mixing door 3 to an optional position and an auxiliary heater slide guide 8 engaged with the gear 16 to slide and move the auxiliary heater 5.
