<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a coated metal component using welding where production is facilitated at low cost, and rust prevention effect for welded parts is excellent. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A metallic box 2 and a metallic hinge 5 are subjected to resistance welding. The welding parts of the hinge 5 corresponding to the welding parts of the box 2 and a cover 4 are coated with a conductive coating material, thereafter, the welding parts are superimposed, an electrode of resistance welding is applied to the non-coated parts of the box 2, cover 4 and hinge 5, and energizing is performed, so as to weld both the welding parts via the conductive coating material. Thereafter, the non-coated parts of the box 2, cover 4 and hinge 5 are coated. Since, even if rain water, tide wind or the like infiltrates into the welded parts of the box 2 and the hinge 5, rust resistance performance can be obtained by the conductive coating material applied before the welding, reduction in the durability and deterioration in appearance caused by rust can be prevented, and further, since coating to the non-coated parts is performed after the welding, there is no risk of damaging the other coated parts upon the welding operation, and further, the coating of the non-coated parts can be simply performed.
