PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver which reduces a calculation amount for calculating a precoding matrix used for signal processing of MIMO communication. SOLUTION: The receiver estimates the precoding matrix used for the signal processing of MIMO communication from a signal to be received, and has: a code book 32 in which a plurality of precoding matrixes to be candidates are stored; and a metric calculation part 39 in which a channel estimation value calculated from the received signal is inputted, and which performs a metric calculation by performing at least either of thinning of a time area of the channel estimation value at prescribed intervals, or restricting the used number of precoding matrixes when time variation of the channel estimation value is smaller than a first threshold.
