<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stirrer which can perform efficient mixing and stirring by successively applying shearing while eliminating a stream near a liquid surface rising along a side wall of a stirring tank and forming an overall circulation flow. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the stirrer, a rotary stirring shaft 2 is disposed at a central part of the stirring tank 1 and further a plate-shaped bottom blade 3, which stirs a bottom part of the stirring tank 1 and produces the circulation flow composed of a rising flow along the side wall 11 of the stirring tank 1 and a descending flow descending near a center of the stirring tank 1, is disposed at a lower part of the stirring shaft 2. Arm blades 4 are disposed above the bottom blade 3 of the stirring shaft 2 so as to constitute sides of an about rhombic shape. Upper arm blades 41 constituting two upper sides are disposed at an angle of engulfing the circulation flow inside and lower arm blades 42 constituting two lower sides are disposed at an angle of ejecting the engulfed circulation flow outside.
