<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a sol-gel film on the main face and the end face of a glass plate whose end face is polished by hand-coating with a coating liquid for providing window glass for vehicles having good external appearance. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A method for producing the window glass for vehicles has a step to prepare the glass plate whose end face is polished and a step to form the sol-gel film at least on a visible end face in the main face and the polished end face of the glass plate. The step to form the sol-gel film has a coating step that a holding material holding a coating liquid to form the sol-gel film is in contact with the glass plate.
