PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce malfunctioning, while extending the detectable distance in the detection region on the front side. SOLUTION: A condenser is constituted with one electrode and the other electrode. When a detection object, such as, human body is approaching, the capacitance between both electrodes is changed. A capacity-type proximity sensor detects the approaching of the detection object through a change in the capacitance. The one electrode 1 is formed into line-like shape like a wire which has small surface area, and the other electrode 2 is formed into plane-like shape like a plate having a large surface area. The line-like electrode 1 and the plane-like electrode 2 are lined up in parallel while keeping the distance, and the side where the line-like electrode is not hidden by the plane-like electrode is set as the detection region on the front side. On the rear side of the plane-like electrode 2, the plane-like shielding electrodes 8 are lined up in parallel and face, separated by a distance, and the shielding electrodes are grounded.
