HONEYCOMB STRUCTURE

A honeycomb structure consisting of a columnar honeycomb unit containing inorganic particles and an inorganic binder and having multiple cells extending from one end face to the other end face along the longitudinal direction thereof, the cells partitioned by a cell wall, characterized in that the cell wall bears a noble metal catalyst and a NOx storage catalyst, and that the amount of noble metal catalyst is greater at the surface of the cell wall than at the thickness center of the cell wall.
