<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely track an object which is moving within an image. <P>SOLUTION: An object tracking device 10 is configured by an exclusion area detecting unit 11 and a tracking processing unit 16. The exclusion area detecting unit 11 is configured by a black band detecting unit 12 for detecting a black band within the image, a straight line edge detecting unit 13 for detecting a straight line edge within the image, a repeated pattern detecting unit 14 for detecting a pattern repeated within the image, and an exclusion area setting unit 15 for setting an exclusion area based on the detected black band, the straight line edge, and the repeated pattern. The tracking processing unit 16 is configured by a moving object detecting unit 17 for detecting a motion vector of a tracking point, and a tracking point estimating unit 18 for estimating motion of the tracking point.
