<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus able to maintain gradation reproducibility and color reproducibility within a reference range without requiring operations by a user. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image processing section; a print processing section that prints a toner image for each printing color; a sensor that detects the density of a toner image on a transfer body; a correction data creating section that creates gradation correction data for each printing color by using a first gradation test pattern; and a correction data revising section that transfers a second gradation test pattern for each printing color onto the transfer body, obtains for each printing color the sensor-detection gradation characteristic of the second gradation test pattern, detected by a sensor, and revises the gradation correction data. If even one color exceeds a predetermined threshold in a difference between a sensor reference gradation characteristic acquired when the gradation correction data were created and the sensor-detection gradation characteristic after that, the correction data revising section revises gradation correction data for all the printing colors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
