A control part 901 is configured to, when a temperature detected by a temperature detecting part 905 exceeds a prescribed value during a returning operation to pull out the roll paper 1 and convey the roll paper 1 to a printing starting position for the following printing, change the roll paper conveying speed to the second conveying speed for a prescribed time in accordance with the detected temperature, alternatively, change the roll paper conveying speed to the first conveying speed after the temperature becomes equal to or below the prescribed value.
