<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide injection extension ducts for new emergency core cooling water which can prevent the level of cooling water from lowering excessively inside a reactor vessel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Direct injection nozzles 24 and the injection extension ducts 26, placed at the outside face of a core barrel 12 face each other in a precipitation section 16. The pipe coupling regions between the direct injection nozzles 24 and the injection extension ducts 26 are completely separated. Emergency core cooling water intakes 28 is formed on the surface of the injection extension ducts 26, facing the direct injection nozzles 24. The jet of the emergency core cooling water squirted from the direct injection nozzles 24 flows from the emergency core cooling water intakes 28 into the injection extension ducts 26.
