PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device to be mounted on a vehicle which can improve a degree of freedom in installation, enables the existence of a lens to be hardly recognized, can improve the quality of an external appearance of an outer equipment and can improve a degree of freedom in optical design. SOLUTION: The imaging device mounted on a vehicle includes an optical system 3 having the lens 31, an image sensor 4 which generates a signal formed by converting a state of light obtained through the optical system 3 into a quantity of an electric charge and an image processor 5 for processing the signal obtained in the image sensor 4 to pick up an image of an external part of the vehicle. The lens 31 has an outer surface 31a exposed on the surface of a base part 11 of a door handle 1. The outer surface 31a of the lens 31 is coated with a surface layer 7. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
