<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a license management server to always manage the correct utilization state of a license by preventing an optional function from being validated many times with a once-given license. <P>SOLUTION: The image formation device 10 inputs a license code to validate an optional function invalid at an initial state. The image formation device 10 is provided with a storage section 20 for storing unique information 21 unique to the device, and uses the unique information 21 stored in the storage section 20 to authenticate a license code to be inputted. When the license code is determined to be a proper license code as a result of authentication, the image formation device validates the optional function.
