PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic field generating member having high rigidity and capable of securing sufficient magnetic force though it can be made compact, a developer carrier, a developing device with the developer carrier, a process cartridge, an image forming apparatus, and to provide a method of manufacturing the magnetic field generating member. SOLUTION: The magnetic field generating member has: a columnar body part; a groove of the body part, which is provided to the outer peripheral surface of the columnar body part along the shaft direction of the body part and whose cross section is rectangular; and a long-length magnet molding body which is fixed in the groove of the body part. In the magnetic field generating member, the long-length magnet molding body is fixed via a long-length plate type reinforcing member arranged so that a cross section perpendicular to the shaft of the column can be U-shaped and/or a long-length L-shaped reinforcing member in the groove of the body part. One of the reinforcing members arranged on two sidewalls of the groove of the body part is composed of non-magnetic materials and the other is composed of magnetic materials.
