PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively producing tubular titanium oxide having a large specific surface area and anatase crystallinity by a simple process without using a specific apparatus. SOLUTION: The method for producing the tubular titanium oxide includes (1) a process for preparing an aqueous dispersion containing titanium complex ion, a hydrolysis accelerator and an organic substance serving as a template, (2) a process for covering the organic substance serving as a template with titanium oxide formed by hydrolysis of the titanium complex ion, (3) a process for recovering a reaction product, and (4) a process for removing the organic substance serving as a template from the reaction product.
