PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for replacing an emergency stop device of an elevator capable of performing replacing work of the emergency stop device easily in a short time even when the existing emergency stop device is replaced with new one with a different dimension and shape, and to provide an attachment adapter, an elevator car, and a counterweight of the elevator. SOLUTION: The emergency stop device 22 already attached to the frame body 20a of the car 20 or the counterweight 30 is detached from the frame body 20a. Then, in the place in the frame body 20a from which the emergency stop device 22 is detached, an attachment adapter 28 detachably attachable to the frame body 20a at its one section, and detachably attachable to the new emergency stop device 26 at its other section is attached.
