PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser resonator in which imbalance does not occur the beam profile of the laser beam, during a transition period of on/off switching of an AO-Q switch, and degradation in performance of the AO-Q switch is prevented, even if a plurality of AO-Q switches are used, thereby resulting in improved hold-off performance. SOLUTION: The laser resonator comprises: a laser medium 12 for generating a laser beam 11; a pair of reflecting mirrors 13 and 14 which sandwich the laser medium in the axial direction and form a reference point 21 where the laser beam is focused; one or more image transfer optical systems 16, that are arranged between one of the reflecting mirrors and the reference point for transferring a beam profile 11a of the laser beam, at the reference point to a transfer point 22 on the axial line; and one or more AO-Q switches 18, arranged at the positions of the image transfer optical system that have been duplicated by image transfer.
