<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus, image reading method, and image reading program in which, even when local displacement or distortion is caused during reading, a read image can be obtained in which the displacement or distortion is reduced, or a user can be notified about the occurrence of displacement or distortion. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 100 is an apparatus which scans and optically reads a read surface of a document by means of a scanner comprising a document radiation device, including: a first read image capturing means 22a for capturing a first read image by moving the scanner from a read starting position along with a scan line; a second read image capturing means 22b for capturing a second read image by moving the scanner to the read starting position according to the same scan line as that in capturing the first read image after the document is read; and a read image storage means 24 for storing, in accordance with storage instructions, the captured first read image and/or second read image in a predetermined storage area.
