<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that is lightly affected on a machine size and cost, and performs correction without interfering ejection even when an encoder signal is continuously eliminated, and to provide a program therefor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When an encoder analysis section 203 determines that there is abnormality in an encoder signal after performing one scan of a carriage, the encoder analysis section 203 determines a correction condition of a timing signal cycle in the one scan of the carriage on the basis of information relating to the encoder signal cycle of the one scan of the carriage. A timing correction signal generation section 206 generates a timing correction signal cycle by correcting a timing signal cycle in a print job on the basis of the correction condition at a time of a next print job. A motor control section 111a controls the movement of the carriage by a scanning means by using the timing correction signal cycle, and a head ejection control section 108a controls ejection of ink from a recording head.
