<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay apparatus capable of performing a communication over first and second transmission lines although both a first protocol and a second protocol are used. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The relay apparatus 1 is inserted between a first transmission line W1 and a second transmission line W2. A first extraction unit 4a extracts a packet of a second protocol from a signal transmitted on the first transmission line W1. A first shaping unit 5a shapes a waveform of the packet of the second protocol extracted by the first extraction unit 4a. A first superimposing unit 6a sends out the packet of the second protocol shaped by the first shaping unit 5a onto the second transmission line W2 synchronously with a transmission signal of a first protocol transmitted on the second transmission line W2.
