<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microplate treatment apparatus which suppresses the cost related to a lid-holding mechanism and is enhanced in the degrees of freedom for arrangement. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The microplate treatment apparatus includes the lid-holding mechanism 12 for holding the lid 13 separated from a microplate 5, at a predetermined position and an orthogonal coordinates type robot 8 for transferring the microplate held to a holding head 9 from the right and left within a predetermined range containing the predetermined position. The lid-holding mechanism 12 includes a pair of bearing parts, arranged so as to leave an interval which is larger than the width in the right and left direction of the microplate held to the holding head; a pair of rotating shafts axially, supported so as to be made displaceable in the directions mutually brought into contact with and separated from a pair of the bearing parts; a pair of the rotary bodies respectively mounted on a pair of the rotary shafts; and an energizing means for energizing a pair of the rotating shafts in mutually approaching directions.
