<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire for heavy loads enhancing cut/penetration resistance of a central area of a tread surface when the tire runs over a projection object such as a stone, without fear of reduction in eccentric abrasion resistance of the tread surface. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A rubber layer 9 arranged at an inner surface side of a carcass 5 comprising one or more sheets of carcass plies is made to a thick portion 9a having the maximum thickness T in a range of 7-20 mm at a portion corresponding to at least the central area of the tread surface 7.
