PURPOSE: A honeycomb structure is provided to reduce the amount of noble metal catalysts supported on the honeycomb structure, and to offer high NOx processing performance to the structure. CONSTITUTION: A honeycomb structure is comprised of a pillar honeycomb unit(130). The honeycomb unit contains inorganic particles and inorganic binders. A plurality of cells drawn according to a longitudinal direction of the honeycomb unit are divided by cell walls. A noble metal catalyst and a NOx occulusion catalyst are dipped on the cell wall. The surface of the cell wall has the large amount of the noble metal catalyst. The amount of the noble metal catalyst contained in a region of 30μm depth of the cell wall is larger than the amount of the center part of the cell wall. |
