Preparing organic compounds (I), comprises reacting an organic compound (II) with another organic compound (III), where the reaction is carried out in the presence of stoichiometric amount of elementary magnesium, catalytic amount of transition metal compound and nitrogen-, oxygen- and/or phosphorus-containing additives in catalytic or stoichiometric amount, relative to (II). Preparing organic compounds of formula (R-R1) (I), comprises reacting an organic compound of formula (R-X) (II) with another organic compound of formula (R1-Y1) (III), where the reaction is carried out in the presence of stoichiometric amount of elementary magnesium, catalytic amount of transition metal compound and optionally in the presence of nitrogen-, oxygen- and/or phosphorus-containing additives in catalytic or stoichiometric amount, relative to (II).
