<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user-friendly image forming apparatus equipped with a horizontal conveyance part, wherein space above a housing of the horizontal conveyance part is effectively used to place documents without impairing the service life of a conveying roller in the horizontal conveyance part. <P>SOLUTION: A copying machine 1 is constituted by putting the horizontal conveyance part 7 for conveying a recording sheet ejected from a fixing part 5 in a horizontal direction above a printer part 2, and disposing an image reading part 8 to be spaced at a predetermined distance from the upper surface of the housing 70 of the horizontal conveyance part 7.
