<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for electric compressors for vehicles wherein an earth fault can be accurately detected by a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The driving device includes an inverter 13 that generates a false alternating-current output from a battery 2 mounted in a vehicle. The motor 16 of an electric compressor 14 for air conditioning is driven by the output of the inverter. The driving device is provided with: a current value difference detector 26 for detecting any difference between the values of currents passed through high-voltage lines 11, 12 extended from the battery to the inverter; and a controller 17 inputted with the output of the current value difference detector. When a difference is produced between the values of currents passed through the high-voltage lines, the controller determines that a ground fault has occurred in an area other than the area from the point of current value difference detection to the electric compressor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
