IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can ensure a gradation image of high image quality for a long term and also ensure formation of images with reproducibility of narrow lines and high quality of characters.

SOLUTION: Line patterns of the same density value and different resolutions are formed on an image carrier. The density of the line patterns is detected by a density sensor. An output from the density sensor when detected densities match between the different resolutions is used as a first reference value. An output from the density sensor that has detected a non-image area is used as a second reference value. Based on the first and second reference values, an output from the density sensor is set.
