摘要 <p>The objective of the invention is to further promote the separation and isolation of the magnetic grains of a magnetic recording layer (122) in a vertical magnetic recording medium (100), thereby enhancing the electromagnetic transducing characteristic (in particular, SNR) therein. A typical structure of a vertical magnetic recording medium (100) comprises at least a non-magnetic granular layer (120) and a magnetic recording layer (122) formed on a substrate (110) in the named order. The non-magnetic granular layer (120) has a granular structure in which grain boundary parts each containing one or more oxides are formed between non-magnetic grains continuously grown in columnar shapes. The magnetic recording layer (122) is formed continuously with the non-magnetic granular layer (120) and has a granular structure in which grain boundary parts each containing one or more oxides are formed between magnetic grains continuously grown in columnar shapes. At least one oxide contained in the grain boundary parts of the non-magnetic granular layer (120) has the same composition as at least one oxide contained in the grain boundary parts of the magnetic recording layer (122).</p>
